The Island of Hydra

Our destination today was the idyllic Greek island of Hydra.
A drive of around 90 minutes took us through the Peloponnese countryside to the tiny ‘port’ of Metochi, from where our boat departed at noon.
It was just a 20 minute crossing to Hydra, located just a few miles off the coast of the Greek mainland but with a distinct ‘island’ feeling.  There are just a handful of motor vehicles on the entire island, all municipal vehicles.  So for locals & tourists alike the only forms of transportation are foot, boat, & donkey!
Upon arrival Declan gave a short introduction & orientation to the town of Hydra, capital of the island, then we enjoyed a full afternoon - walking along the coastal path, taking donkey rides, growing the boutiques, & relaxing in cafes.
